Consumerisation - David Aaronovitch, Writer, Broadcaster and Journalist - Talk time about 30 minutes

We are currently at an inflection point both as consumers and as professionals with the way that we use technology both in our personal and professional life. In the age of immediate feedback where people are rated on twitter while been interviewed and the measure of a person being how many people follow them or like them on Facebook it is important to understand the effect of all these changes on us as people both in our private and professional life. David A has extensive experience as both a user of technology but also as a very knowledgeable person on privacy issues , he has spoken to politicians across the spectrum and is one of our foremost commentators on contemporary issues. David will take the audience through a journey discussing how technology is changing the way we interact at home and at work and share his views on what we need to do as individuals to prosper and thrive in the current era. He might even talk a little about security and how government ministers use private e-mail to keep government business under the radar !

Roy Illsley, Principal Analyst at Ovum - Talk time about 45 minutes

It's time to take a new approach to IT. By focusing on the individual, instead of the device, businesses are cutting costs and increasing productivity. We live in a world of ever-increasing employee expectations that is fuelling new IT strategies such as cloud and BYOT we need to manage the only non-standard element of the IT environment - the person - in a way that minimizes IT management overhead, maximises productivity while still maintaining full control. Interested? You are only human. The acceleration in the adoption of consumer technologies in the corporate world is continuing to create significant problems for CIOs. The cross-over of personal devices is now endemic, if you travel on an airplane, train, or subway the number of people using personal devices (Smartphone's and tablets are currently the dominant devices) to access corporate systems is astonishing, particularly compared to what it was like less than two years ago. Therefore, management and control of corporate assets – data and information – is critical, but not at the cost of innovation and freedom, this dichotomy can only be solved if we now take a people-centric view of how corporate systems are accessed.
